About Us

Why are we called 'Swavesey Particular Baptist'?

Our church is called Swavesey Particular Baptist. We are 'Strict Baptists'.

Particular: We hold the doctrines commonly known as Calvinism, or the Doctrines of Grace. This includes Particular Redemption, which means that Jesus died on behalf of those particular people who God has chosen to save, not for every person.

Baptist: We baptize people when they profess their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism by immersion is dipping them briefly under water as a symbol of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and also of washing away guilt.

Strict: We practise Strict Communion. The communion service, when we meet to commemorate the death of the Lord Jesus Christ in the ordinance of the Lord's Supper, is for members of our church, who have given a testimony of their faith and then been baptized.

We use the King James (Authorised) Version of the Bible in our services. We believe this is the most accurate English translation currently available, being a literal translation based on the most reliable manuscripts.

We sing our praises from Gadsby's Hymns, which speak of the experience of God's great grace in the heart.

Our worship style is simple and reverent.
